Arriving at Patong Beach, we would see it was a very popular place. Cruise ships were anchored off nearby, as well as many other small boats. Patong beach it the busiest tourist beach on Phuket. I have named it Party Town, a lot like Kuta Beach in Bali. There are only a couple of big rise buildings here as a height restriction was put in place many years ago. Walking along the two main streets and lane ways, you can see they are geared up for the 4 millions plus tourists that come here every years. Souvenior shops, massage parlours, tattoo parlous, bars, street vendors, restaurants etc abound. How any of the shops make money, I do not know, they are all selling the same stuff, imitation Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Raybans, Oakley, anything you want at a fraction of the normal price.
Fred arrives tonight, so had better get his cabin and Keris ship shape. It will be great to have someone from home with us for Christmas and New Year. Fred is bring the Christmas Cake and Pudding with him, yummy. He will be with us for a fortnight, Boxing day we plan on going sailing and returning back here for New Years Eve.
