New Years Eve

We arrived back at Patong Beach around 9.30am, we almost anchored in the same spot we were in when we first arrived here. We decided to have a lazy day, perhaps with an afternoon nap so we could see the New Year in and watch the fireworks, which we had been told would continue until the early hours of the morning. About 16 of us ended up going out for drinks and dinner at Dee Lish, we have eaten here a few times, the food and service here is very good. After dinner the group split up, our group wandered through the bar areas, (it sure seems like we drink heaps, some of the yachties do). You could hardly move on the streets now, most of the streets had been closed to traffic. A cold bottle of Champagne I had reserved for New Years Eve was waiting for me on the boat and wanted to get back there so I could toast in the New Year. We had been invited to join some people on their boat and watch the fireworks, we took them up on the generous invitation. Spent a pleasant couple of hours on Investigator II (Al and Mary own her). The fireworks were nothing like what we see in Australia, people and some of the hotels were just letting them off randomly, sometimes you just did not know where to look. The sky was also filled with lanterns, hundreds and hundreds must have been lit, a sight to behold. I think we returned back to Keris around 2.30am, 2013 had began.
