We arrived here two days ahead of schedule because the weather forecast encouraged us to do so. The Irish Weather Service Met Eireann does not only forecast the wind conditions, but also the wave conditions. "Heavy Swell" is one warning that sometimes accompanies Small Craft Warnings or Gale Warnings - swells in excess of 4 meters. We're trying to avoid those if feasible! So we're parked behind the solid locks here in Kilrush when the next weather front comes in! Surprise, surprise, we get through the lock and here is Aleria, the Bowman 57 of our old American Yacht Club friends Daria and Alex Blackwell, but they're not on board.

Below is a selection of the excellent scenery we experienced on our way up the coast.
