Back from Washington to beautiful refinshed floors

Bonnie/75 degrees
We had a wonderful time in Washington, visiting with family and friends or just hanging out as Cadence calls it. For a few days I thought I was going to stay longer to take care of renting one of our rentals but found out at 4:30 am on the morning I was going to drive Kevin to the airport that it was no longer necessary for me to stay behind. I had been looking forward to spending more time with Karissa and the girls as well as seeing some friends from work that I had not connected with yet, but duty calls, and I left behind cold Bellingham to arrive to 70+ degrees in Mazatlan later that afternoon.
One of the things we decided to do before we left Mazatlan was have someone refinish the floors of the boat. The old floors had paint splatters, scratches, and who knows what else on them after all the projects Kevin did, there just wasn't any way for him to work and protect the floors. We got a couple of references and bids and trusted that the person we choose would do the job and KIST would be loved not striped while we were gone. We walked nervously from the cab to the dock and climbed aboard. I was so delighted when I saw the floors, they are just beautiful. For under $300 dollars, Richardo, hand sanded and put four coats of varnish on the wood. We are now a shoes off before entering the house home again. The bad part is that it will be obvious when the floors need to be swept but hey, I'll take it!
Since it was New Years Eve when we returned, we celebrated by having a margarita in the cockpit while in our bare feet. We talked about crashing the dock party going on the next dock over but refrained, after all I can't get to the point of being too social or no one back home will know me when we return.
Before we head off to further south there are still a few boat tasks that need to be done so we'll spend the next week or so (and usually when I say we it really means Kevin when it comes to working on the boat) checking off items from the list. We'll (and usually when I say we in the context of playing around it really means me) also take some time to explore Mazatlan some more.
