Last Sunday after having head wind and the engine on for a long time and with the forecast of strong head winds we decided to stop at Vina del Mar. The Club de Yates Higuerillas (32 55.68'S: 071 32.45W) welcomed us and all the people of the club were very friendly. Chile was the place that we were amazed with the people, how kind they are. This is not only on the marinas and clubs but in general, on the streets, everywhere. We went to the nearby city, Vina de Mar and also Valparaiso but was raining quite a lot and it was hard to visit the cities. We finished going out for a coffee and cake, and ice cream. Since Chiloe I have been looking at the Pelicans. I started to admire them, I never seen them flying as much as in Chile. They are heavy and not the prettiest bird but I love the way they glide so close to the water. In the club there were many birds around and the pelicans stay in the breakwater and on the top of some houses, like the seagulls and pigeons do. The Port has been closed since Saturday and it open only yesterday. We informed the Armada that we were planning to leave and today. In the afternoon we received the Customs, Police and only after 17:00 the Armada came to give us the permission to leave. As soon we could, we left and at the moment we are SAILING again. Next stop will be (we hope) Gambier.
