We sailed to a small island, La Desirade, east of Guadeloupe. The population of the island is 1,700 - most of whom are fisherman. We rented a car and traveled the 5 x 1.5 mile island, it only took a couple hours. Guadeloupe is very French, thank goodness Marc speaks French (well French-Canadian) although sometimes it is a struggle for him. When we rented the car in La Desirade, Marc was speaking in French to the agent, after a few minutes the lady asked what language he was speaking! We did not see many people out and about doing their business or tourists in the area.
