Hello all!
Wow it has been about a year since I last updated on this blog! A lot of â stuffâ in between!
Cam sailed the boat to Mexico and we spent some time relaxing in the La Cruz anchorage. The boat was in need of cleaning and the usual maintenance!
We planned on staying until April and participate in the Banderas Bay Regatta, but, we were starting to hear about the Covid-19 pandemic and felt we should get back to Canada. Not to mention my sister Kim was txting me âGet home!â
We managed to book the last flight out of Mexico on West Jet. By the time we left most everything was canceled, and locals were starting to lock down.
The boat is now in a Marina and well looked after.
Back home in Salt Spring we isolated for two weeks at the house. The house hadnât sold while we were away, so although it was pretty empty, we were glad to have it under the circumstances.... and I mean anything can happen but we certainly couldnât have predicted a pandemic!!!
It was really sad hearing about how desperate Italy was during the pandemic! We were just there! Amazing how our timing was in our favour.
Eventually the house did sell in June so onto packing up the last of our things in a container and figuring out plan B or C or D? đ. We had already started the process expecting that we would be living in Koa e Kea full time.
Cam got back on the list to get his other hip replaced... ( everything was set back due to Covid)Yay!
meanwhile we decided to buy a camper and truck to live in. Also,a great opportunity to see BC, safely ! We found out there are some amazing places to camp! We were able to visit friends staying outside and having our home with us ! Not that much different than living on a boat!
Next bump in the road! Meanwhile as Cam was seeing Drâs in preparation for his hip ... they discovered with a MRI follow up to a liver cancer scare over a year ago ( the one before we bought the boat when they told Cam â you have liver cancerâ our lives were turned upside down) At that time they did more tests and after 8 weeks told him â good news, âYouâre fine no cancerâ!!! Then we bought the boat and decided to go for it.
Back to the follow up in June,we found out that the Cancer he did not have IS Cancer. Yes, I guess it never left. So, unfortunately the long awaited hip surgery was not to be before the liver cancer surgery.
The good news is the position of the tumor is really good as far as it goes. The surgeon feels she will be able to remove it and Cam will not have to go through any chemo etc. He will always need to be checked.
So, that will happen Dec 16th or 18th. After that he can get his hip done.
We hope to get to the boat sometime in between waiting for things.... but it depends on many things !
We are doing really well all things considered! Itâs that â curve ballâ thing ! This update may not seem to cheery... but really, we are happy and know all will be just fine!
Hoping everyone will be safe and Covid free! Strange times right now !
Donât get me started with the whole Trump fiasco!!!!
Cheers đ„
