Ft. Lauderdale to Green Turtle Cay

02 March 2011 | Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas
Evan
Left Ft. Lauderdale early Monday morning and made bridges in a timely manner. Hit the Gulfstream and the race was started. The sail over to Great Sale Cay was fast. We seemed to run with the flying fish. Piloting and anchoring at night were uneventful because of the great expanse. The sleep was sound for me but fitful for the captain.
After a restful night, continued on to Green Turtle Cay. Anchored outside of White Sound. Breezy with boat traffic but seems nice. Checked into Customs;confirmed by officer, passport photo should be amugshot. Very friendly, inviting population in New Plymouth. Had an excellent lobster salad lunch at Plymouth Rock Cafe the local liquour store with countertop seating. Picturesque, beautiful island. Gilliam Bay has an amazing vista; want to return.
