Evan
Went into Marsh Harbour for some provisioning. Greeted by valet panhandler at the dinghy dock, and told we need no security chain for boat. This is the
Bahamas; no theft, only a thief would lock things. I guess I looked shifty. Made trip to the hardware and marine stores with a number to choose among. Took harrowing adventure in search of groceries by walking to Maxwell's. Found large supermarket with some reasonable prices on certain things. On return, wondered why Abaconians are in such a rush behind the wheel. They seem to drive as fast as possible, and are set on using the whole road and whatever else you can keep the tires on. Life and limb for groceries.
Found Bahamian Market Grocery on return. Ruthy recommended the Jamaican patties and they were excellent. An interesting and very friendly lady who has spent her life here and in Florida. Her daughter in law runs Conky Joes, so we look forward to the meal.
Made the afternoon at Mermaid's Reef, a no take park not far from the harbour. It appeared pretty trafficked, but had plenty of fish. I swam with a school of curios ballyhoo, some flag yellowtail, and a couple big grey snappers. Found a monstrous spiny lobster with antennae almost as long as my arms. The 5-10 lb. grand daddy had his own home and was unafraid of my presence.
