Further south we go
24 March 2011 | Black Point Settlement
Jim
We left Warderick Wells this morning at about 9 am under a beautiful blue sky. The wind was out of the SW so we moptored out to the Bahamas Banks side and turned toward the south. After about an hour of motoring, we made another waypoint and turned more to the ESE and raised the sails. We had a great sail to Black Point from there.
Black Point is the second largest settlement in the Exumas next to George Town. That makes it SMALL. It's a few homes lining a long street with interspersed businesses. After anchoring in the bay with a lot of waves piling in from the SW, we went ashore to do laundry, get a phone card, and post some letters. The people here are very pleasant and welcoming. Everyone we met was more than happy to direct us to whatever we were looking for and helping us when we got there. We couldn't start the wash because the woman who runs it left to pick up her little girl from school. And the woman who runs a local diner/internet cafe was home doing something, so everybody got what they needed all on the honor system. Very low key. Tomorrow, off to ????? Further south towards George Town!!
