Lee Stocking Island Anchorage
Well we finally reached our southern extreme for this trip. George Town was our destination from the beginning. We stayed in the anchorage for Lee Stocking Island on Friday night. It was beautiful and very quiet there. There is just a marine research center there. They let us hike to Perry's Peak - the highest point in the Exumas at 125 feet. The view was incredible! The anchorage was peaceful and the color of the water was (as usual) intense. We left Saturday morning for George Town and arrived in early afternoon. It is realtively crowded compared to the harbours to the north (except for Nassau). But it turned out to be very clean and nice, and quiet at monument Beach on Stocking Island. I was pleasantly surprised. We hiked around George Town once we got here. It may be a good place to provision, but not a lot of ambiance at all. Still, the Stocking Island area is very nice but very little there (beach bars mostly). We climbed Monument Hill this morning and hiked to the Atlantic beach. Very nice! Candice just left to catch her flight back to Miami. Sad to see her go :>( Now Evan and I have a couple days to get ready for Gene's arrival. Then hopefully Nicky will be her before I know it!!!
More to come.....
