Jim - Sunny 80's
We left Black Point for a gentle downwind sail to Staniel Cay and we anchored at Big Majors' western anchorage. While we didn't go ashore to visit the pigs, they swam out to meet some of the people who dinghy'd in just in front of where we were anchored. Instead we decided to visit Staniel Cay. On the way in we found Paulo and Sylvia aboard Samvaro III - Cataline 470 hull 105. We talked briefly befopre landing at the government pier. Staniel's an interesting little villiage but very quiet while we were there. Of course it was Sunday and most shops and cafes were closed. We ended up getting a drink at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club's bar which was fairly well attended. 'twas a hot day onshore but on the water the wind kept things cool. Tomorrow we're off to Waderick Wells.
Comments
Vessel Name: Koala
Vessel Make/Model: Catalina 470
Hailing Port: Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
Crew: Captain Jim, Nicky 1st mate, Evan 2nd mate
About: The captain is a ex-northeasterner living the goodlife aboard Koala in south Florida.
Extra: Koala is a Catalina 470 built in 2000. The draft is 6' and beam is 14'-0". Koala is also the captain's full time home for the past 11 years and so she may be sitting a bit low in the water. Ok, so maybe the draft is an inch or two more!
