Beachcombing Great Guana Cay

We left Warderick Wells yesterday and motored most of the way to Black Point Settlement. It was only the last hour of the transit that the wind clocked and picked-up enough for us to finish with a sail into the anchorage. The wind died almost completely during the afternoon and overnight but picked-up in the am. Shortly after arriving we went ashore to checkout the airport for Nicky's flight to Nassau. We stopped at Adderly's store to pickup a couple of grocery items and a couple of tokens to do the wash at the Rockside Laundry - $3.50 /token (1 wash and 1 dry does the job). In the evening, Nicky and Evan played cards while I just zonked out. The strong sun and warm temps just wiped me out.
Today dawned warm and sunny (so what else would we expect!!). I listened to Chris Parker's weather and it's looking like there may be an opportunity to cross to the Bahama Banks and onward across the gulf stream in the Sunday/Monday timeframe. So we may be able to be back to Ft. Lauderdale by sometime on Monday. Of course the weather forecast may change as we get closer to that time. My plan now is for Evan and I to make it a long day tomorrow, heading from Black Point to Highborne Cay. And then setting off Saturday for the jaunt to Nassau. We'd leave Nassau Sunday morning, and arrive in Ft. Lauderdale Monday morning. That's the plan, Stan!! We'll see how it pans out.
Earlier this morning we hiked to the Exuma sound side of the island to roam a beach or two. It was another beautiful day with sunshine and warm temps. I walked with Nicky to the airport this afternoon and she caught her flight to Nassau. I was sad to see her go. It was like she'd just gotten here and now she's headed back to Florida and work :~( I received a text from her and she made it to Nassau and is now awaiting her flight to Miami. She flew thru some rain showers along the way and we're now seeing some of those showers off to the northwest. Perhaps some of that weather will hit us tonight. Nothing like a good shower to wash off the salt spray from the boat! Now to make up a good dinner...cornbread tamale pie ---Yum!
