Very nice place to wait

18 May 2012 | West Sound Marina, Orcas Island Wa.
Mike
I can't think of a much prettier place to be waiting in. But the anxiousness is beginning to work at us. We are still correcting some of the recommendations noted during the survey but our main delay remains the wait for the return of the electronic navigation display. The manufacture says the unit is finished and will be shipped today. Taking into account the ferry system we should receive it mid-to-late next week. In the meantime we have removed everything from the port lazerette to gain access to the engine motor mount that the survey identified as corroded. Along with the lazerette we removed the saloon bench seat to gain access to it from another angle. We then invent all sorts of new contorted yoga positions; the reaching wrench position, the inverted scraper position, and finally the outstretched blind spray painter's position. In the end persistence prevailed (along with alieve) and another item is crossed off the list. We also removed the cracked pilothouse window and now have it at Anacortes and are getting a new one cut (2-3 day wait for that). The weather continues to be absolutely gorgeous, sunny day after sunny day, but with the boat missing a window it is sure to change the weather. In fact rain is now in the forecast.

We soon decided Homer Ak will be our boating port and in the summer of 2014 we moved our boat [...]
