Staying local

Another pleasant day out in local waters.
Getting to know the boat better.
Conversation of the day:
Her: Why aren't we winning?
Me: What?
Her: Look at all those boats - they were behind us and now they are in front of us.
Me: Gallic shrug - but switches off autopilot.
One hour of hand helming, sail tweaking and tacking later...
Me: I guess we won.
Her: It wasn't a race.
Me: You're right. It wasn't, till someone asked 'why we weren't winning?'
Just because I don't like to 'race' doesn't mean I don't know how to.
