Freezer Broke
09 November 2016 | Portobello, Panama

Go figure! Six hours since we left Portobello and I hear a high pitch noise. Denny investigates and says it's the freezer. Now couldn't it go out while we were near a city where we could get parts? No, it had to be stuffed full of rib eye steaks, chicken, hamburger, lunch meat and of course the 14 lbs. turkey. Gosh, can you tell I'm frustrated! So I cleaned out the frig and managed to fit everything in it, but it is thawing and we need to start eating. So much for loosing weight!
The trip has been pretty easy. We have been averaging 90 miles a day, which isn't much. Light wind right on the nose, so we are having to zig zag along the rum line. In the night we have been having a few squalls. Wind of 20+ knots, so we reef in the jib and about 5 minutes later the rain starts and the wind shuts off. We've been listening to Chris Parker and he tells us this is what to expect threw the weekend.
Our first night, about 50 miles off shore, we had 3 finch birds come and rest around dusk. They decided to stay the night, but wanted to be in the cockpit. One landed on my head and got caught in my hair, Denny had a hard time getting it off me. Then one landed on Christine's back.
I will blog every few days as the connection is hard to find.
Life is good on Kokomo!
