Good-Bye Sail
10 November 2016 | Underway from Panama
Becky/82 degrees, wind 14-16 knots, speed 5-6 knots
This morning on my watch I could see a squall coming and called Denny & Christine for help to reef the jib. We did just in time to get hit with 30 knots of wind that lasted about 10 minutes. Not but 1 hour later I see another one coming, up come Denny & Christine except this time the jib wouldn't come in. The roller was jammed. So Denny went up to see if he could fix it but not in time. We got hit hard and so did the sail. It tore to smithereens and was lost to sea. We have a brand new #3 jib that we put up and are screaming along just fine. Denny fixed the roller but we probably won't need to use it because this new sail is so small. No more zigzagging, the wind has changed direction and we are cruising up the rum line. We did 110 miles in the last 24 hours.
Food update: the frig is freezing my meat again. If I keep turning the turkey to stay frozen, I think it will make it to Thanksgiving!
Life is good on Kokomo!

PS - we had to email Erica (daughter in-law) to ask who won the election, but more importantly if the Seahawks won!
