FLORIDA!!!

08 December 2008 | Fernandino Beach Florida
60s and sunny (at last)
Florida at last! It feels like a milestone to me that we've made it here (granted to the border but hey - its FLORIDA). 5 months on our little boat and 2616 miles under our keel from Lake Michigan to here. It was good to make contact with Di & Joe and let them know we're in Florida. I'm soo looking forward to seeing them! After our nap yesterday I called to let them know we were safely tucked back in and proceeded to nap again. There seems to be a large petroleum company here and another manufacturing facility on this river. We're anchored on Amelia river off the ICW actually on the border of Georgia (St. Mary's inlet where we came in) and Florida. Spent the day catching up on my journal and downloading pictures and Wayne went over the charts & books.

There is a different type of porpoise in this harbor, smaller and lighter in color than the previous ones (harbor dolphins?) but mesmerizing just the same. We got up late and decided after checking email and chatting with family to stay put today. It's actually a nice day out - 60s but my mood is not as upbeat as it was in the morning. I'm just glad we're here and so grateful that life has given us the opportunity to be able to make such a trip. I hope that life allows this opportunity to continue...

Joyce/James - if you're reading this - I couldn't believe that a boat named Ketchup exists. A boat named Ketchup II came in and anchored near us - had to take a picture of it for you...
