How cold was it last night? So cold we had sweating ports again. It got down to 40 so I had to wipe away the moisture on the windows to see outside again this morning. With this crazy weather coming from the north, I hope Elaine makes it down to Florida okay - they were supposed to be driving down and I think they had to pass through some ice storms to get here. See? All us Michiganders have cold weather following us down to Florida! It was a good morning to have Oatmeal and toast for breakfast then we kicked back a little before heading into town via the bus system. There was a boat store Wayne wanted to visit called "Sailor Man" - kind of a unique place. It's a part consignment, part new, part used items, store. It reminded me of a place called Uncle TB's back home except this place was tailored to all things nautical where Uncle TBs was anything - you never knew what you'd find there. Sailor Man was a pretty neat place and had a little of everything from ropes and chains to refrigeration units and nuts & bolts. We went to the West Marine and OMG it was the biggest one I've ever seen. They had everything there. Then we walked over to the shopping center to CVS and Publix and the shopping center was massive!

We got a good walk in today! I'm not used to all the car traffic - they have massive amounts of traffic here and some crazy drivers that like to honk their horns a lot (like it helps when everyone is sitting in a traffic jam due to an accident). I'm glad we're not driving here! It reminds me of New York traffic near the airport. Fort Lauderdale is a "hopping" place - very popular!

Spirit is moored a couple boats down from us - we ran into them when we were tying up at the dinghy dock and "Knot For Shore" was at the dinghy dock too. We chatted with them for a little - they're anchored back at the last river where the kids pulled off (the young lovers heading for the Bahamas to get married). It was nice to get to meet them - they're heading down for the Keys (Marathon) and like us - this is their first sailboat. They've now been living aboard for three years and this is their first trip down here too. We've both been discovering that the charts aren't the most accurate - depth wise.

The temperature is dropping again this evening - poor Wayne is shivering while grilling the chicken up top. It's supposed to be cold again tonight - all these record temperatures my goodness...

This mooring field that we're in belongs to the Las Olas Marina. The mooring field is primarily for small to med. sized vessels and the marina itself is designed primarily for the "mega yacht" class vessels (the slips there have their own parking slips and attendants, and other incredible amenities!).
