We all awake by 7:00AM after hearing an annoying beeping sound that had been going off since 4:00AM. Kelly and I had first thought it was something on the boat but later learn it came from somewhere on the shore. We are underway by 8:30AM so we can make our next destination by sunset. Since we are on the ICW we get more schooling in. Kelly had removed the pump for the autopilot, so he will not be able to use it on this trip. He has to reseal the pump. There were some pretty homes and we see some dolphins along this stretch of the ICW. We will pass through 11 bridges today.
After lunch as we enter Hobe Sound where John and Cindy tell us their engine is leaking antifreeze and it is running a little hot. They let us know they need to anchor so they can correct the problem. Kelly motors us around to check out some of the houses on the east side of the canal. This is said to be some of the highest priced real estate in the country. Kelly and I pick out the homes were would love to own. We then tie off to the stern of John and Cindy's boat so Kelly can go on and check out the engine with John. They discover that they need a new coolant pump. They can continue to travel with the leak but need to keep the level up. We then continue on our trek. We arrive at Lake Worth at 5:30 PM just as the sun is setting. This is a popular spot with many boats anchored here. Boats often leave from here to go to the Bahamas. We have dinner and talk with Cindy and John and decide we will leave by 6:30 AM so we can get into Fort Lauderdale early. It is about 50 miles from here. Kelly replaces the seal on the autopilot pump and bleeds the steering system for our trip tomorrow. We all go to bed early.
