LOVELY SAILING WINDS
We had the weather & winds with us to make some ground west on Thursday 29th so had a good sail to East Cove 38 52.81N 8 48.99E to anchor for the night with 3 other yachts in lovely clear waters. We could clearly see the anchor in 7 mts while enjoying a late afternoon swim. The dolphins joined us during our sail on Friday 30th to Carolforte - it's just so lovely to have them swim and play in the crystal waters around the bow of the boat. We had a visit from the military during our sail - telling us to divert south by 4 miles as there was live firing practice - and later we heard them too! BOOM, BOOM. Carolforte is a final outpost - on an island - St Pietro, within the island country of Sardinia. We lucked out by staying the night on the free transit quay, with no anchoring available within the harbour. Being right in the town was great- so we could walk on and off easily, and have ice-cream after dinner! On Saturday morning 1st October we enjoyed a morning walk around the little town, which had a real village feel. Sadly it was goodbye to Sardinia, as we commenced our 200 mile passage to MENORCA - BALERICS ISLANDS - SPAIN around midday. We have really enjoyed the sailing, people, foods and towns of southern Sardinia, and would recommend and return again.
