We had a great day sail to the east coast of the island of Mallorca on the 5th October to anchor off Pto de Costa de los Pinos 39 38N 3 24.6E for the night with 2 other yachts. Another great day sail on Thursday 6th to return to a favorite spot -Porto Petro. We anchored in the bay off the town- still lovely and quite exclusive. Our afternoon walk of the little village showed many exclusive developments around the foreshore and some brilliant tapas bars and restaurants. With the gale imminent we headed off on Friday 7th, with the wind building - we had a 'hit' with a storm whilst crossing the bay - only 27knots this time! & ran for cover anchoring at Pto de Campos for 2 nights. We put 2 anchors down to be safe, had some heavy rain & strong winds - with the wind generator having to be tied off because it was generating too much!. It was a lovely anchorage with a great view back to the restricted island of Cabrera. By Sunday 9th in lighter winds we moved on a little - just across the bay to anchor off Pto de s'Estanyol. There were very few charter yachts about - most yachts were seen were either locals our day sailing or cruising boats like us. Towards the Bay of Palma area on Monday 10th - thankfully enjoying a good day-sail to anchor off Magaluf - again, where we had been in the same spot 10 years ago. We were anchored for the 1st time with many yachts - about 15 - mostly cruising yachts. Tourist day in Palma town on Tuesday 11th. We caught the local bus and walked around the marinas - some wonderful yachts and excellent repair facilities. We had a long, but lovely day in the town, but exhausted when we got home after lots, and lots of walking. We had spotted at Lidl supermarket from the bus yesterday - so moved the boat across the bay to PalmaNova on Wednesday 12th - this made the land journey a lot shorter. Lidl is great for a bulk drygoods shopping, so not to be missed. We were keen to explore some more of the anchorages be had been to previously we moved on a little to Las Illetas 39 31.9N 2 35.4E on Thursday 13th - again a special spot. We went ashore and walked the beach and exclusive housing are village areas - a bit of a reecc, hoping that this might be a good spot for our Connelly family visitors in a few days time. The wind picked up a bit on Friday 14th so we move to get a bit of protection off Puerto Portals Marina - it was very strange to hear the cries of the Sea Lion from the very close by aquarium throughout the evening and night. Dillon, Christie and Poppy came onboard to Las Illetas for lunch and a few hours together on Saturday 15th - we had a lovely time together. I very much enjoyed being a great auntie - if only for a few hours. We spoke on the SSB with Roger & Sasha 'Ednabal' early on Sunday 16th and hopefully arranged to meet up on the mainland in Almerimar in a few weeks time. The Rugby World Cup semi-finals were being held in New Zealand, and we found a bar open at 10am to watch the game (Oz V NZ - NZ won well) - with just some final shopping and an afternoon nap before we set off about 5pm for an overnight crossing to the island of Ibiza
