West Indians and especially Trini’s are passionate about their CRICKET – with Brian Lara being a living saint! During September the World Cup for 20/20 was being held in Sri Lanka and on Saturday 22nd Australia V W.I. game was held. We watched the game on the big screen TV at the Wheelhouse Pub at Tropical Marine with a few of the locals. Unfortunately the game was disrupted by rain.... but anyway W.I. won the final of the competition and are now World Cup T20 winners- and the country is so proud of this achievement and their players.
Also in the evening on 22nd we attend a PIG ROAST at the Trinidad Sailing Club. This little club has a lovely waterfront spot and great atmosphere, and we enjoyed an excellent value meal and bar in the good company of about 50 other local and international sailors. The pig was slow cooked in a metal box, rather than on the spit. The pig had been butchered and prepared to lay flat and placed, head up in the box with a metal lid placed on top. This lid was built up with wood coals and kept being topped up to provide hours of heat. When the pig emerged it was melt in your month perfect with a crunchy skin... delicious.
