Unplanned travel! Australia -December to February 2016
10 February 2016 | in Australia on unexpected Family Duties – no sailing

Ft Lauderdale, Florida - Early December we had some family and friends as visitors and then prepared La Aventura for our planned passage to Mexico and beyond to the Western Caribbean.
All Change! I received that dreaded phone call from my brother - come home NOW. Mum is in hospital and cannot return to her home!!
With the wonderful help from our great USVI friends were 'parked' La Aventura alongside a canal apartment in Ft Lauderdale and within a week were flying across America and the Pacific to Grafton, NSW. Australia.
To deal with the enormous task ahead my brother become responsible for Mums ongoing care and James & I now had her home to prepare for sale.
Sadly Mum was unable to return to our family home and is now a Byron Bay village resident. Over the following six weeks our family home became a soulless vacant property and sold to fund her future care costs.
This unplanned visit was a very emotional time for all concerned - with the best outcomes possible achieved.
Bonus events were attending a Connelly family Christmas, both James and I celebrating our Birthdays with good friends and family and attending my nephew Toms wedding.
