Heading North

We are at sea again, making good progress heading North for Fiji. The ICA fleet left in the morning but we didn't get going until 3.30pm. Our weather forecaster Bruce suggested that we would be better to wait until afternoon. Which, judging by the squalls in the morning was the right call. In any case it took us until then to get ready. By the time we had stowed the kayaks and dinghy, put away tools from the numerous boat jobs we were running out of time.
Our first day was a bit scary. You kind of forget things, but it quickly comes back to you. Which rope is which, how the boat behaves etc. The wind has been a bit up and down but mostly between 15 and 20 knots from the South. It has been up to 27knots and down to 10 knots. It started from the South West but is now mostly SSE. So there has been a lot of gybing, since the wind is too far on our stern to set a consistent course. Still we are maintaining a good speed and everything is going well. So far the only problem is the generator doesn't want to start. I gave it an oil change before we left, and suspect I must have run its starter battery down. So hopefully not too serious.
