In fairness to Strahan we did have a good meal in a restaurant there called Risby's. Agreably situated at the head of the bay it provided some sublime oysters and fish. So it is possible in Strahan. Leaving the town we took a turning for the Henty Dunes. Stretching back far from the sea these massive dunes rise to over 30m. We were the only people there, and it felt like walking across the desert. White shimmering sands and filmy clouds in the deep blue sky created a remarkable horizon. A party of teenagers arrived probably from a local school and with great whoops of joy sandboarded down the slopes.
