We arrived at Langkawi and what a treat - beautiful steep sided islands and water that is blue cloudy instead of brown cloudy. We picked our way between little islands until we arrived at a narrow anchorage between two vertically sided islands - the fiord anchorage. Waiting for us there were our friends Don and Anne from Harmonie - it has been well over a year since we last sailed with them. After a swim (at last the water was nice enough) we spent a most enjoyable evening catching up.
The island is duty free. We moved through to another anchorage and then to Pelaga Marina. A delightful spot on the main island. Langkawi has 99 islands in all. Moored in Pelaga guided by Don and Anne we were able to do a major restock. Tiny shops and warehouses up back streets where you can find high quality meats, vegetables, hardware and most important of all wine. We drank our last bottle of wine the day we arrived at Pelaga so a particular delight was the wine warehouse expertly run by a young Chinese woman, Rachel. Two days and our fridges, freezers and lockers were full up ready for the short journey to Thailand.
