Fishing towards NZ
18 October 2008 | Tasman Sea
Jackie and Michael
We are heading across the Tasman sea to New Zealand again. The winds are quite light so we are having to use the engines most of the time to supplement the sails. A bit dull perhaps, but better than the storms for which the area is reputed. We added to our food supplies today - a nice 20lb tuna - albacore. So that's our menu for the next few days.
We have to eat up all fresh meats etc before arriving in NZ otherwise it's confiscated by the NZ quarantine authorities. However, I imagine fresh fish is not a problem for them. We hope to arrive in Opua first thing Thursday morning at the moment
