South of Knossos is the main production aera for wine in Crete. We stopped at the Minos-Miliarakis winery in Peza to stock up. The nice lady in shop was surprised, that we did buy a few box. Most of the visitors usually buy only one or two bottles. May be the wine is not as good as in Sicily, but also not bad and very reasonable priced. What I can not recommened is their red "bio" wine, it has some strange oxidated palate, and the oaked Vilana Fume, which is not powerful enough to match the smoked oak taste.
After lunch close by we drove on to Myrtia to visit the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, author of the novel Zorba the Greek.
