Overview of the Trip
27 July 2015 | Nantucket Harbor
The Trip
We originated in Nantucket. Moby arrived on Wednesday night ( July 28th). We agreed to meet on the boat at 10pm, sleep aboard and get an early start in the morning.
From Nantucket we proceeded to Provincetown, then to Marblehead to pick up Doug. We left Marblehead at 10PM for an overnight sail that would get us into Pt Clyde around 5pm ( approx. 125 Mi)
From Port Clyde we left for Northhaven and then on to Deer Island (Stonington/Moose Island) where we checked into Billings Diesel and Marine Services. From here we moved on to McGlathery’s Island ( one of the most serene , picturesque and uninhabited islands). From there we moved on to Mt Desert Island. Many know this generically as Bar Harbor but actually that is just a famous port on the island. We decided to go to NE Harbor which is more layed back but complete.
At this writing we will leave NE Harbor and travel up the Sommes River to a beautiful and peaceful anchorage at the head of the river at Sommesville. It is near SW Harbor.
