Under Way

Still a lot of tidying up to do around the yacht but I thought I'd get the blog started anyway.
Right on the appointed time of 8am the friendly team from Border Force arrived at my berth E0 which is situated right close and handy to the shore and the Southport Yacht Club Marina Office. I had already submitted the bulk of the paper work which was simplicity itself and easily obtained off the web, so just a few extra signatures and it was all done and dusted in under 10 minutes and the clearance certificate issued.
I will say more of this later but to get to this point in such a short period of time was due in no small measure to the wonderful help I have received from so many great people. In particular I must mention Hank from the Newport Cruising Yacht Club with the assistance of Nick, also a proud Northshore 38 owner, Fletch and Leonie of Boat Harbour Marine, Adrian and Jesse of Switch Sails and Richard, Steve and Steve, and Tracy of Scarborough Marina and of course my daughter Katherine, both in the help with stores and equipment but also and in particular leading an often obstinate Luddite through what appeared a maze of contradictory obstacles but to an analytical mind were just a series of straight forward steps. I thank you all.
But back to the present.
I have now seen more whales today than in my last excursion of 6 months or so and they seem to be accompanying us as we cruise slowly South. The code zero was hoisted around 11am and the sailing at the moment is sublime. With barely a ripple on the surface of the sea and an ever so gentle swell L'Eu Commotion is slicing through the Coral and soon to be Tasman Sea like the true thoroughbred that she is. At times such as these one's thoughts turn to lunch and the tidying up. Lunch first and then who's to know and who's to care?
