L'Eau Commotion Westabout

It's now day 5 ( Friday 2 September ) and what a contrast in conditions. Feeling very smug making East of Sydney in 21/2 days but the fair winds just died away.
Totally becalmed all daylight hours on Thursday and then a gentle run through the night to again be becalmed all this morning. Looked up a few of the weather resources which make challenging reading. Up to 42 knots tomorrow so a bit of time was spent rigging down haul reefing lines on the main and setting up the staysail plus a bit of housework and some undeserved naps. Just after midday today a light NE breeze sprung up so up with the main which had been stowed as the whumping had been disturbing my siesta. Next unfurled the jib and away we went soon making 8 to 9 knots. So one reef OK for while then the second reef in the main and then furled the jib and rolled out the staysail. So here we are making great progress at 7 to 8 knots in about 25 knots of wind from the NE and with a minimum of fuss. With the main rudder tied off with a slight weather helm the Windpilot Pacific Plus is handling the conditions nicely which bode well for the future. And to think for a few minutes around 1pm I was contemplating getting out the code zero!
