A Very Quiet Day
23 August 2017 | 30 Miles South of Albany WA
10pm Wednesday 23rd August 2017. About the only thing achieved today was taking down the staysail and putting up the much larger jib. Fortunately though almost becalmed at the start of the exercise the breeze only just set in when the sail was fully hoisted; also one half of the little feed in mechanism on the foil had fallen off onto the deck and with the appropriate use of a zippy tie served admirably. As a young engineer on bush jobs I wondered how we would get on without tie wire and string and then along came this marvellous invention. The rest of the day was spent trying to coax some forward motion from a fitful and fading breeze. I guess the only positive thing is that I can see the loom of the lights of Albany.
