Asymmetrical

8:20pm Monday 4th September 2017 ( UTC+7 ) I have been threatening to put up the asymmetrical for so long now people have been doubting whether I in fact have such a sail, so to disappoint the disbelievers out it came. A sparkling sea, a sunny blue sky and a gentle quartering breeze what could go wrong? You name it. No matter what combination of full main, one reef, two reefs or stowed could I get the sail to set. Add wine glassing, wraps around the furled jib, tangled halyards and sheets where they shouldn't be it became obvious this was not the sail for today and the main culprit the still large but unobtrusive swell. In these very light conditions the free flying sail is easily backwinded and even when setting properly showed no advantage over the poled out jib which is now coasting me along in a completely carefree and uncomplaining manner.
