Cups of Coffee and the Art of Procrastination

02 October 2017 | 540 Miles East of Port Elizabeth South Africa
8:00pm Monday 2nd October 2017 ( UTC+3 ) By 7pm last night there was just enough wind so the full main was hoisted and a lovely steady run carried on through the night. At dawn consideration had to be made whether to increase the sail area as the wind had become quite light but just to make sure it was not just a temporary aberration on went the brewster. And of course my favourite ever breakfast - rolled oats and milk -followed by you know what. In the beautiful clear blue sky the sun shone brightly on the solar panels and yes enough to power the desalinator. The bypass water goes into the sink and as it was noticed that the " stainless " silver ware needed a little extra polish so out with the scourer to use this supply. The control cords for the self steering gear lay to hand for the galley slave so a little tweak now and then had us chuckling along while 4 litres of fresh was fed into the spare bottle. Now the reason for the state of the silverware was the knife drawer, situated just under the main entrance woul dn't quite close so the odd slosh in heavy weather would see a trickle of salty water find its way in. So out with the angle sander and the little extra swelling was soon rectified. And with the desalinator performing so well everything got a nice rinse. Gosh time flies when your having such fun. Morning teatime already. And then the fresh water bypass started to trickle so indicating all the tanks were full ( or pressed up to use nautical jargon ) so the desalinator was disconnected. And would you believe by now the wind was just strong enough and in the right direction that no extra sail was needed so no decision on this matter had to be made. Procrastination as an art form turned into a virtue.
