8:00pm Sunday 22nd October 2017 ( UTC ) The sailing was great running before the SE Trades. The chores not so much fun. Because of the extra current required to run the autopilot I decided to dig out a spare 80w solar panel buried beneath six months of supplies stored on the Starboard quarter berth. The surge down the waves waves and the swerve when she hits the bottom is much more fun when you don't have a fish crate full of supplies you are trying to manoeuvre in a very limited space. The good news is that after checking and rearranging all the packets it was discovered that the only damaged goods were one kilo of rice and two small tins of egg powder. There seems to be plenty of the essentials but will do a stocktake once Hierro is rounded in three or four weeks time. Finally found the solar panel and checked it out in the weak sunshine but the connection and placing will be left till tomorrow. I also traced a faulty wire to the stern light which occasionally flickered but now fixed. In the meantime completely o f her own volition and with no input from the skipper L'Eau Commotion put out another fine performance clocking around 175 miles for the day.
