5:00pm Thursday 16th November 2017 ( UTC-2 ) A very pleasant day was spent doing nothing and going nowhere. After an easy run through the night the light breeze faded away as daylight approached and despite some tantalising little puffs progress has been virtually nil all day. The promised shift in direction to the South East keeps getting postponed despite frequent enquiries. Also for the first time the Halco #4 Barrasnatcher came in unaccompanied probably because at 1/2 knot it wouldn't fool even a ravenous predator. I forgot to mention but yesterday I saw some small whales, the first this trip. I thought at first they might have been large dolphins but the double distinct spout confirmed them as whales. They were only seen for a few minutes.
