Route Planning
15 December 2017 | 2750 Miles to Cape Horn
5:30pm Friday 15th December 2017 ( UTC-2 ) Rio is renowned for two things - the Corcovado and Copacabana Beach with its bevy of beautiful girls. But not for its surf for the very good reason that surf requires waves and waves require wind which in summer in Brazil is in rather short supply, unlike the girls. So the plan was to pass by Rio at 35W but this is barely enough so to in order to give us a better chance of keeping the wind in the sails we are heading East of South ( or South by East as the old salts would say ) Mind you it's all quite pleasant if you just ignore the odd shudder as the gentle swell throws what little wind there is out of the sails and you don't glance too often at the speedometer and odometer. An all important rest and recovery day after yesterday's exertions as I look forward to another batch of lovely pancakes to Kerrie's great recipe.
