19 December 2017 | 2330Miles to Cape Horn
6:00pm Tuesday 19th December 2017 The breeze has actually been going all day but you'd hardly know it by looking at the map. With speeds around the 3 to 4 knot mark and just a little cooler I decided to put in a solid turn on the desalinator. The work isn't hard but it takes some concentration just to plod away hour in hour out. I set out to put in six hours and at certain times I wished I had said four but the morning effort of 2:48 ( had to do the noonsight! ) and 3:12 not long finished left me a little tired but well satisfied as that's a weeks supply. The machine is bolted to the lift out cover of the Port settee and at knee height is in a good position so either hand can be used. I looked up Katherine Ann's log from here to The Horn and dialled up a fortnights weather and it all bodes for a pretty patchy lot of sailing. A hundred miles a day doesn't seem much but I'll be pleased if I can accomplish that, putting me rounding Cape Horn about the 14th January. --------------020209090505020801080106--
