We were totally becalmed for a full 24 hours until late morning today. I am now running under double reefed main with headsails all furled ( the jib by necessity ) making a comfortable six plus knots in 25 to 30 knots ESE. The plan is to keep a little below Diego Ramirez and keep this course going to give a good Westing for the expected wind shift to South, SouthWest and, inevitably, North West over the next 48 hours. I also intend to use the main alone when hard on the wind later on to perhaps forestall any mast throbbing. A comfortably rugged up 5C in the cabin as I look forward to some more mutton and spuds.
