Heavy Weather
07 June 2018 | 45 Miles North West Of Canal Chacao
6:00pm Thursday 7th June 2018 ( UTC-5 )
The calm ended at 9:00pm last night and a reasonable sail was had under double reefed main till the morning but as the wind came round to the North and increased to 35 knots the staysail was furled and we continued at about 4 knots through to the afternoon. Around 4:00pm the seas became chaotic and it was most uncomfortable for an hour or two. Things are settling down now as the wind settles in from the West and if it stays there Iâll unfurl the staysail shortly. We have passed the latitude of Puerto Montt which is something of a milestone as it marks the beginning of the Chilean Archipelago which stretches all the way to Cape Horn. And the news youâve really been waiting for - Sesame and Honey Crunchy bar. Guaranteed to dispel gloomy thoughts.
