Cleanup
27 June 2018 | South East Trades in the South West Pacific
7:00pm Wednesday 27th June 2018 ( UTC-6 )
Having cleaned out the cobwebs clogging up the neurons I decided to do the same with the sink with perhaps better results. As well it was time to check out the stores for the remainder of the trip. I started with the Ration Pack #3 and to be truthful there were just so many good things in it I didnât know where to start so made some pancakes instead. Just flour and egg powder in a well buttered frypan with Vegemite on one and Golden Syrup on the other it makes a satisfying and nutritious feed and I have more than enough ingredients to see me home for whenever that whim takes hold. I didnât do a rigorous stocktake but a balanced though simple diet will get me to Oz with some to spare. Another day of similar weather with the wind just off to Starboard of dead astern as I head WNW to I think what will be my preferred Latitude of 14S all the way to the Longitude of Tahiti and then a gradual sweep to the WSW. The Trades look very steady though a little lighter than now but start to be upset by I guess the Tuamotus and the general circulation around the South Pacific High. With the wind close to astern I have been using the autopilot which prevents the odd uncomfortable gybe. The trolling line was set but with the speed often over six knots it made the lure skip a bit which seems to discourage the would be dinners, but early days. Itâs a full moon tonight which I canât see directly as it is behind a big black cloud which promises another light shower but however is lighting up the whole horizon and is rather nice.
