The Science Is Settled

Countless Nobel Prizes in Physics have been won by those brilliant Scientists who have produced literally infinite numbers of solutions to Einsteinâs Field Equations, including Einstein himself who didnât produce any. We neednât bother to learn how these calculations were carried out as the King of Sweden who hands over the million or so bucks has not the slightest idea nor does his learned panel - they simply sift through the list of names presented to them by other brilliant scientists and pick a likely sounding lad or very rarely a likely sounding ladess. The important thing is the conclusions that have been arrived at. The result of the solutions to these equations is to confirm that the 100 Billion Galaxies in our known Universe, each containing 100 Billion stars, a mere 13.7 Billion Years ago were all squeezed into a space much smaller than the head of a pin. Yes, The Big Bang and youâd better believe it for fear of being tagged with the name of that river in Egypt. Somehow or other Al Goreâs name ended up in the hat who, had it not been for a few hanging chads, would have become in time the leader of the land of the free. Instead he found himself with plenty of free time on his hands and with the millions accumulated from a lifetime in oil produced That movie demonising the use of oil. Now as every schoolchild will tell you it signals the end of civilisation as we know it unless we Act, and who better to guide us than yes, you guessed it, Al Gore. So the Science is Settled. For a brief period of twenty years roughly corresponding to the years 1978 to 1998 the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increased as did the average global temperature and pseudoscientists like Big Al predicted runaway temperatures and Global Warming and the resultant catastrophes. For a brief period of roughly 1938 to 1978 the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increased and the global temperature decreased and pseudoscientists predicted Global Cooling and all the resultant catastrophes. And now to the present. For the last twenty years roughly from 1998 to 2018 there has been an increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and no change in global temperature so we now call it Climate Change and shudder at the resultant catastrophes which now await us. In the meantime it could be deduced from the length of this blog that I am now sailing blithely along under a beautiful blue sky with the ever so steady South East Trades pressing firmly against the single reefed main and partly furled poled out jib and a gentle flow through holding the cabin at delightful 25C oblivious to the reality which awaits on the afternoon of Friday 20th August 2018.
