When I was hurtling along, LâEau Commotion with a bone in her teeth and mine gritted I promised myself that at the first opportunity I would take down this oversized sail and replace it with the smallest one in the locker. That was what I was gunna do. What I actually did when the breezed eased off was let out all the reefs in the main and unfurl the jib and be pleased to see the jib, even with its rather large tear off the foil, drawing quite nicely in the by then 10 or 12 knots. Despite all evidence to the contrary I believed the PredictWind Predictions of light airs for the next week so I thought it good form to show a little enthusiasm and leave the stormsail in the bag. The winds have been so light today that the best I could do was to keep these sails full for a bit of comfort even though I wasnât going where I should be going.
