Sharp Lookout

Hereâs the skipper keeping a sharp lookout for the ever increasing traffic. This ship, the bulk carrier â Snowy â is the third ship seen in the last month and the first to break into my defensive circle on the AIS of one nautical mile. It was comforting to hear the little chirrup on the AIS as she passed by no closer than eight tenths of a nautical mile just before lunch, the first vessel to do so since leaving Stanley in The Falklands. Still zig zagging and now almost becalmed but better conditions of a broad reach are promised from tomorrow.
