The whole of last night was spent totally becalmed so it was nice to feel the slightest breath from the South just before dawn. This gradually built up to the eighteen knot mark around lunch time and it has been like this all afternoon and hopefully into the rest of the week. With the wind just aft of the beam under a single reefed main the helm and WindPilot have their hands full just preventing a round up in the occasional increases but otherwise we are nicely on a direct course for home. I took heed of Nickâs remarks and made contact with Border Force so thatâs all squared away. This required an estimated arrival time and though I have sen my estimates come and go over the last frustrating weeks my best guess now for Southport is Sunday 9th September 2018.
