Thanks to the speedy work of Troy Booker and the help of my daughter Katherine in picking up and delivering the new parts by mid morning the job was completed this afternoon.There was no particular reason why the heat exchanger developed the hole adjacent to the cast iron elbow and fortunately the engine seems to have suffered no ill effects. The failure of the oil filter was caused by rust from the outside as they should be changed at least every 12 months.
The plan is to wait for the wind to ease and head to Southport on Thursday morning for a planned departure from the Gold Coast Seaway at noon on Saturday 8th June 2019
