Light Winds

Light rain showers and fitful occasionally gusty winds had me toying around with the sails last night till about 3am when I called it a day, furled the jib and made fast the helm. The overcast morning gave way to a sunny afternoon with the wind never getting beyond 8 knots and most of the progress could be put down to a South East going current of just over a knot. This weather was much as predicted and far preferable to the gale and storm force winds I could have expected had I left on the 1st of June. With the dead flat seas we are now making 3.8 knots right on course with a true wind speed of 3.8 knots accompanied by the muted hum of the hydro generator and the gentle trickle of the sea against the hull.
