Day 3 8pm Monday 10th June 2019
The wind died away completely during the night so in the small hours I furled the jib and put a preventer line on the boom and woke to a perfect glassy calm with absolutely no wind at all. I hope you can see it in the photo - thereâs not the slightest breath of air about and not a ripple on the water. Soon after however a gentle NW air came in around four knots and with the current of 1 knot were back on course making nearly 4 knots. To keep the speed and to counter an expected wind change to WSW we headed a little inshore and right on time the wind has come from North to Northwest. Iâll keep my course of South West for a few more hours as there's quite a few large ships about and I may just get inside of them for the rest of the night. I must add that as I looked out to the clearly defined mountains behind Coff's Harbour and over the gentle ripples on the surface a moment of shear joy in such beauty bought a tear to my eye with the thought I will only have ten or twenty more years to enjoy such pleasures. Reality set in and I enjoyed breakfast.
