Odd Jobs

Day 25 8pm Tuesday 2nd July 2019 ( UTC+8 )
Mucked around in fitful airs from 2am to 6am this morning before calling it a night. I started on the maintenance after breakfast with just the main up and there were occasional puffs, some strong, from all directions but nothing much would have been gained. I replaced the 8mm bolts on the ram connection to the quadrant with 10mm bolts and nylocs. The quadrant was a moving target in the swell and I broke a 10mm drill near the tip but it can be resharpened. Corrosion of a terminal on the galley pump was fixed and I hope better waterproofed than the original. A small air leak on the suction side of the saltwater galley pump was fixed by installing a smaller diameter hose. It's a small thing but so much more convenient than putting on wet weather gear, harness, hook on, secure end of bucket rope and half fill bucket on third attempt and then spill the contents on the galley sole. The wind indicator showed some sign of life after being switched off for the day but became erratic and useless so that's a job for another day.The promised Northerly breeze eventually came in at 7pm but after an hour seems a little iffy.
